COVID-19 claims 7 more patients, infects 756 others

Karachi, October 01, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as seven more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,414 and 756 new cases emerged when 16,243 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Friday. He added that seven more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 7,414 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate.

Mr. Shah said that 16,243 samples were tested which detected 756 cases that constituted 4.7 percent current detection rate. He added that so far 6,039,772 tests have been conducted against which 457,862 cases were diagnosed, of them 93.7 percent or 428,877 patients have recovered, including 216 overnight. The CM said that currently 21,571 patients were under treatment, of them 21,119 were in home isolation, 31 at isolation centres and 421 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 389 patients was stated to be critical, including 33 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 756 new cases, 161 have been detected from Karachi, including 62 from East, 39 South, 18 West, 17 Malir, 13 Korangi and 12 Central. Hyderabad has 115, Shaheed Benazirabad and Sujawal 51 each, Naushero Feroze 47, Matiari 37, Badin and Sanghar 31 each, Jamshoro 30, Thatta 28, Tharparkar 27, Tando Allahyar 21, Mirpurkhas 20, Umerkot 17, Ghotki, Sukkur and Tando Muhammad Khan 16 each, Jacobabad 13, Dadu 12, Larkana nine, Khairpur two and Shikarpur one. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
