COVID-19 claims five more patients, infects 423 others 

Karachi, October 15, 2021 (PPI-OT):As many as five more patients of Coronavirus died overnight lifting the death toll to 7,525 and 423 new cases emerged when 18,622 tests were conducted. This was stated by Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah in a statement issued here on Friday. He added that five more patients of COVID-19 lost their lives lifting the death toll to 7,525 that constituted 1.6 percent death rate. Mr. Shah said that 18,622 samples were tested which detected 423 cases that constituted 2.3 percent current detection rate.

He added that so far 6,209,047 tests have been conducted against which 464,261 cases were diagnosed, of them 96 percent or 445,938 patients have recovered, including 10,877 overnight. The CM said that currently 21,958 patients were under treatment, of them 21,254 were in home isolation, 28 at isolation centres and 252 at different hospitals. He added that the condition of 249 patients was stated to be critical, including 15 shifted to ventilators.

According to the statement, out of 423 new cases, 60 have been detected from Karachi, including 24 from East, 18 Korangi, 12 South, four Malir, two Central and no detect from West. Hyderabad has 37, Naushero Feroze 29, Kashmore 27, Jamshoro 25, Thatta 24, Sanghar 20, Ghotki, Shikarpur and Tharparkar 19 each, Sukkur 1, Jacobabad, Matiari and Tando Allahyar 15 each, Sujawal 14, Shaheed Benazirabad 13, Mirpurkhas 11, Larkana eight, Umerkot six, Tando Muhammad Khan five and Khairpur three. The chief minister urged people of the province to follow SOPs.
