Customs Gadani Seizes Nearly Rs1 Billion in Contraband, Including 188kg of Hashish

In a sweeping week-long crackdown against illicit trade, the Collectorate of Customs Enforcement Gadani has confiscated narcotics and smuggled goods valued at nearly Rs1 billion, with a significant recovery of 188 kilograms of hashish marking a major breakthrough in the operations along the coastal belt and RCD Highway.

According to an official statement released on Saturday, the major narcotics bust occurred at the Khurkhera check post in Winder, where customs officers discovered the substantial quantity of hashish concealed within a container. An FIR has been lodged, and a formal investigation has been initiated.

In a separate interception at the same checkpoint, officials stopped a passenger bus and recovered illegal merchandise worth Rs70 million.

Acting on precise intelligence, the Special Smuggling Prevention Squad intercepted four refrigerated containers. The containers were found to be transporting 76 tons of smuggled pomegranates. The illicit consignment was later auctioned, contributing Rs25 million to the national treasury.

The anti-smuggling drive also targeted illegal fuel transportation. In Ormara, customs teams impounded two passenger buses carrying a combined 14,000 litres of Iranian petroleum products. In a related operation, authorities discovered another 10,650 litres of smuggled Iranian diesel at a godown in Bawani, Hub.

Furthermore, a Hino truck was confiscated at FEU Khuzdar. The vehicle was loaded with contraband poppy seeds, with an estimated market value of Rs24 million.

These extensive operations highlight a renewed commitment by the Federal Board of Revenue to combat smuggling, fortify border enforcement, protect legitimate commerce, and safeguard the national economy from the detrimental effects of illegal trade.
