Daily wagers protest for regularization of jobs

GARHI KHUDA BUX: The 35 daily waging employees hired to work at Bhutto mausoleum 14 years ago blocked Naundero-Ratodero Road, burnt bushes here on Wednesday and held a protest demonstration for regularization of their jobs. Due to road blockade major road remained closed for all kinds of vehicular traffic causing severe hardships for the commuters in this sizzling hot weather.

While talking to media, Hafeez Leghari, Mukhtiar Leghari, Shahid Leghari, Zafar Leghari, Hubdar Leghari, Sikandar Leghari, Mukhtiar Leghari, Sattar Abro and others alleged that services of 12 people were hired by Ratodero municipal committees and 23 persons by Naundero municipal committee 14 years ago in 2008 to make cleanliness in and around Bhutto mausoleum, maintain lawns and public ground at Garhi Khuda Bux but their services have not yet been regularized which is high-handedness. They said at the very outset they were paid Rs3000 per month, then Rs5000 and now they are paid Rs7000 per month which is insufficient in this massive inflation era.

They said Sindh government announced to pay Rs25000 minimum wages to the labourers monthly but they are being discriminated. They alleged even daily wages employees hired and posted by Naundero municipality at Bhutto House, Naundero, are being paid Rs25000 per month then why this double policy and bias with them, they questioned.

They demanded proper monthly payment and regularization of jobs. On the other hand, one of the Naundero Municipality bosses said that these employees should be transferred to Union Council, Garhi Khuda Bux, so that their duties could be properly checked and utilized because we don’t have enough funds to pay them anymore. He said, on condition of anonymity, that the said employees randomly perform their duties adding it would be proper if they are shifted to UC Garhi Khuda Bux.
