Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar today extended an invitation to opposition parties to collaborate with the government on potential improvements to any legislation, urging for an end to political disputes on sensitive national issues.
The Deputy Prime Minister”s remarks came during a joint session of parliament, directly addressing points previously raised by JUI (F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman.
To illustrate the government”s willingness to cooperate, Mr. Dar highlighted that amendments proposed by the JUI (F) concerning the National Commission for Minorities Rights Bill were readily accepted by the ruling coalition.
In a separate development, President Asif Ali Zardari commended the ongoing humanitarian efforts of the Pakistan Navy in Sri Lanka.
The President stated that the relief mission undertaken by Pakistan Navy Ship SAIF for flood victims serves as a practical demonstration of the cordial friendship between Pakistan and the island nation.
The naval vessel has been actively delivering essential relief supplies, including emergency food and medicines, to communities in Sri Lanka that have been isolated by floodwaters. The distribution to these inundated areas is being carried out via helicopter.
