Deputy Chairman Senate for making SECP more robust, proactive

Islamabad, October 08, 2019 (PPI-OT): Deputy Chairman Senate Saleem Mandviwalla observed that Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has to play a robust and proactive role not only as regulator but also as facilitator to boost business activities in the country and create a conducive environment for businesses. He expressed these views in a meeting with Chairman Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan at the Parliament House on Tuesday.

Senator Saleem Mandviwalla said that SECP needs to be strengthened further through legislation and in this regard SECP should take appropriate steps. He assured his cooperation for any legislation aimed making SECP more dynamic. He said that there are sick units in the county which need immediate revival. There is need for dynamic approach and vibrant policy, Mandviwalla said.

He, however, observed that all the stakeholders must be taken into confidence before taking any legislative initiative and make legislation more inclusive. During the meeting, Companies Amendment Bill, NBFC Bill and Insurance Bill were discussed at length. Mandviwalla said that Senate has always supported legislation aimed improving state of economy of the country and bringing change in the lives of the people.
