Islamabad, November 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): Deputy Chairman Senate Senator Saleem Mandviwalla in a meeting with H.E. Mr. Istvan Szabo, Ambassador of Hungary has called for increasing the trade volume between Hungary and Pakistan which stands at a low number of 40 million US Dollars. The Ambassador remarked that the bilateral relation between the two countries is based on mutual understanding and steps are being taken to improve the trade volume.
Deputy Chairman Senate was apprised by the Ambassador that Hungary Pakistan Joint Economic Commission has held several interactions recently and some trade opportunities are being fine-tuned. The prospects of benefitting from the Hungarian experience in water works, technology, food processing and other investment potentials were also discussed.
Senator Saleem Mandviwalla also stressed upon the need to make Parliamentary friendship groups more functional and active on both sides. The Deputy Chairman appreciated the scholarship programme by Hungarian government which provides funding to 200 Pakistani students every year to get their Higher Studies form Hungarian institutes through a process conducted by Higher Education Commission.
