Dispute between Chandka MS and paramedics resolved

LARKANA: The leaders of the Pakistan paramedical Staff Association of Chandka Medical College Hospital (CMCH) and the Medical Superintendent (MS) have jointly resolved their dispute here on Saturday. They also agreed to jointly work for the betterment of the hospital and the patients.

The association leaders Shahi Khan Jagirani and Zulfiqar Sahito a few days ago had levelled serious corruption charges against MS Dr Gulzar Tunio and demanded his immediate transfer in a press conference. They had also said that the largest hospital is at the verge of destruction and it lacked major facilities including most outdated x-ray machines, dysfunctioning CT scan and MRI for three months, non-working of laboratory instruments and others.

Insiders alleged that this all happened when BPS-9 dresser Abdul Jabbar Narejo was posted as store incharge on 8th February replacing Arif Abbasi who was gunned down a few days back as both sides want their own blue eyed boy ignoring issues facing the hospital having over 1800 beds. New CT scan machine has been reserved for the emergency department which is yet to function without any benefit to the common patients. X-rays or Urology and Shaikh Zayed Women Hospital are dysfunctional.

Dr. Gulzar Tunio told PPI that the basic issue was of posting Narejo as store incharge which the paramedic leaders had settled already with him. He said that we have started deducting salaries of absent employees which also infuriated them due to which cleanliness and other issues were surfacing. He said no doubt old machineries are installed in the CMCH which need to be replaced forthwith by the Health Department. He said on the Minister’s directive CT scan and MRI is to be installed near the new emergency department which will only deal with emergencies.

Cell phone of Shahi Khan Jagirani was found closed despite repeated calls. General secretary Zulfiqar Sahto said that we have stopped movement against MS for a while. He said we will watch his performance and commitments made with us for release of withheld salaries till a month or else we will be back again on track. He denied that the dispute surfaced over posting of store incharge and claimed that he was appointed on a political influence basis. He said that one sanitary worker is posted at the entire Civil Hospital at night which is cruel.
