Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has announced that the distribution of pink scooters among women will commence this week. This initiative is part of the ongoing transport projects across the province.
The Minister highlighted the ongoing work on the Yellow Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system and the progress on the construction of its depot. He also shared details of bridge projects, including the naming of a new bridge after Senator Taj Haider. The old Jam Sadiq Bridge will be demolished and reconstructed in phases, with a portion opening for traffic within a week. The reconstructed bridge will have dedicated lanes for pedestrians and cyclists.
Sindh is poised to enter the electric vehicle market, with plans to manufacture electric buses and motorcycles. A large consignment of electric buses is expected to arrive in Karachi soon, while double-decker buses will also be introduced to the city in the coming weeks.
Mr. Memon reiterated the Sindh government’s commitment to providing better facilities to the public and advancing development across all sectors. He acknowledged the challenges related to utility relocation costs for some projects. He also mentioned President Asif Ali Zardari’s recent successful visit to China and the progress on the Dhabeji Economic Zone.
