Districts authorities crack down on profiteers

KHUZDAR:Special Assistant to Chief Minister Sindh for Bureau of Supply and Prices, Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan, has said that the district administration had launched a crackdown against illicit profiteering and hoarding across the province.

This he said while reviewing the report presented to him today. According to the report, so far during Ramazan, more than 76000 shops, fruit and vegetable sellers and other food vendors had been checked across the province.

During operation, a fine of more than Rs2 billion was imposed on more than 13,000 vendors across the province for non-availability of official price list and illicit profiteering. The report further said that more then 3000 profiteers in Karachi division were fined Rs1.885 billion while more then 3000 profiteers in Hyderabad division were fined more than Rs3443000.

Besides that in Larkana division, 1625 illicit profiteers were fined more than Rs7.85 million while conducting operation in Mirpurkhas Division, 1677 illicit profiteers were fined more than Rs2.28 million.

In Shaheed Benazirabad,1888 illicit profiteers were fined with more than Rs 1.523 million. The report further said that 2100 illicit profiteers in Sukkur division were fined with more than Rs1.496 million. It should be noted that the officers of the Bureau of Supply and Prices had provided their full support to the district administration and took part in the operation to nab illicit profiteers and hoarders across the province.
