In a momentous celebration of women’s achievements in football, Diya FC emerged victorious at the World School Summit, with two exceptional leaders, Sadia Sheikh and Naila Sheikh, being honored for their outstanding contributions to the sport.
Sadia Sheikh, a pioneering figure in women’s football, received the prestigious Visionary Leader award. Her tireless efforts to promote women’s football, alongside her innovative grassroots programs, have inspired countless young girls and youth to take up the sport.
In addition to this honor, Dr. Sadia was awarded an honorary Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Sports from the University of Maryland, USA, with her research focusing on women’s sports development. After receiving her awards, Dr. Sadia expressed her gratitude, stating, “Receiving the Visionary Leader award and the honorary Ph.D. is a matter of pride for me and a source of honor for my country.”
She continued, “Football is a beloved sport among women and youth because millions worldwide watch competitions that take place year-round. In Pakistan, there is also significant interest in this regard. My club, Diya FC, and I will continue to take every possible step to promote and develop football.”
Naila Sheikh, a dynamic force in women’s and youth football, was awarded the Inspirational Leadership accolade. Her passion for the sport and unwavering commitment to mentoring the next generation of female footballers have earned her widespread recognition.
