Diya Women Football Club (DWFC) achieved an impressive 3rd position in the Sindh Pink Football Championship, organized by the Sports and Youth Affairs Department, Government of Sindh. The tournament featured 16 teams from across Sindh, showcasing exceptional talent and competitive spirit.
Diya WFC performed remarkably in the league stage, securing victories against Hazara United (1-0) and Young Muslim WFC (3-0). However, their journey to the finals was halted after a 3-0 defeat to Karachi United in the semi-finals. The team bounced back strongly, defeating Lyari United 1-0 in the 3rd position match.
Ms Harmain Shaukat of Diya WFC was honored with the Emerging Player Award and a cash prize of Rs15,000 for her outstanding performance throughout the tournament.
Dr Sadia Sheikh, President and Founder of Diya Women Football Club, expressed her gratitude to the Sports and Youth Affairs Department for organizing such this event, promoting women’s football in Sindh.
The closing ceremony was graced by Abdul Aleem Lashari, Secretary of Sports and Youth Affairs Sindh, and Ms Saima Agha, Parliamentary Secretary for Sports, who attended as chief guests.
The championship served as a platform to highlight the potential of female athletes in Sindh, encouraging greater participation and development of women’s football in the region.
