Doctors’ delegation meets health minister

KARACHI:A delegation of Pakistan Pediatrics Association (PPA) Sindh, Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), ENT Society Sindh and Sindh Health Care Commission met with Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Pechuho.

The delegation was comprised of Dr Ghulam Rasool Bhuriro, Dr Khalid Shafi, Prof Jamal Raza, Prof Shuja Farrukh, Nargis Ghalloo, and Dr Atif Hafeez Siddiqui. Health Minister Sindh briefed the delegation about the progress in increasing bed capacity for Covid patients in Sindh. She also told the delegation about different decisions of government to meet the demands of various professional organizations including PIMA and PPA.

She announced financial assistance and compensation for martyred healthcare professionals, risk allowance 1000/= per day and 500/=per day for doctors and paramedics, respectively who are working in Covid units, and one month bonus salary for all healthcare professionals of Sindh.

The healthcare professionals will be eligible for medical assistance and treatment at any private setup on government expenses if anyone contract Covid 19, a dash board has been developed for information regarding covid beds and soon a helpline number will be announced for public to facilitate them to reach the right place in case of emergency and Insurance for healthcare professionals is also in pipeline.

A MOU has been signed with leading private hospitals of Sindh to develop Covid units within them. They asked that awareness campaign will be made more effective and more frequent in order to debunk the misconceptions about the disease, frequently the briefing. The minister promised to ensure routine vaccinations in children and availability of vaccines and other medicines in province.
