Doctors face problems as PMDC still goes dysfunctional

Karachi:Doctors are facing immense problems as their regulatory body Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) still goes dysfunctional. The government of Sindh has invited applications for posts of doctors to face the challenge of corona virus, but a large number of doctors could not apply simply because their PMDC licenses are waiting for renewal for almost one year. Young doctors say that their career is at the stake as dysfunctional PDMC is the main hurdle in issuing and renewal of their licenses. They have asked the government to waive off the condition of a valid PMDC license for newly advertised posts of doctors and medical officers. Pakistani doctors serving abroad are also facing problems due to non-working of PMDC.

However, Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) and Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA) have already demanded from the federal government to immediately make the PMDC functional in wake the prevailing virus challenge in Pakistan.
