KARACHI:The unpaid doctors of Sobhraj Maternity Hospital on Tuesday staged protest demonstration for payment of salaries.
The doctors were carrying banners and placards inscribed with different slogans. The doctors working in Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) run oldest maternity hospital of the city have not paid salaries for two months while some of them are not paid since 18 months. The protesters blocked M.A Jinnah Road for a while and later moved towards KMC Head Officer to record their protest.
The protesters demanded Sindh government, Provincial Minister for Local Government, and high ups of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to release funds for KMC hospitals and ensure timely payment of their salaries. Later, the doctors ended their protest after assurance from Municipal Commissioner KMC.
