Twenty-two suspicious individuals have been taken into custody for verification and two criminals were arrested during a citywide search and combing operation conducted by the Islamabad Police to curb criminal activity.
The extensive security initiative, which followed special directives from Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, involved the vetting of 529 individuals, 199 households, and 75 shops, according to a satement today.
Inspections were also carried out at 31 hotels, while 162 motorcycles and 52 vehicles were checked by law enforcement personnel. In addition to the detentions, 23 motorcycles and one vehicle were shifted to the police station for further verification.
The grand operations were conducted under the supervision of SSP Operations Islamabad Qazi Ali Raza and were monitored by respective zonal SPs.
The SSP Operations stated that the objective of these search operations is to tighten the noose around criminal elements and further enhance security across the city.
Officials confirmed that such sweeps are being conducted in different areas throughout the district as part of an ongoing and indiscriminate action against criminal elements, land grabbers, and drug dealers.
Citizens are requested to immediately report any suspicious activity to their nearest police station or contact the emergency helpline ‘Pucaar-15’.
