Provincial Advisor for Sports and Youth Affairs, Meena Majeed, on Sunday committed to recommending a “Green Bus” service to the Chief Minister of Balochistan to address transportation difficulties faced by students at the University of Turbat (UoT).
The pledge came during a visit where she also announced financial support for the university’s upcoming Sports Week and promised to seek funds for essential amenities at the campus Daycare Centre and University Model School.
The advisor’s visit on January 23, 2026, also marked the inauguration of a new Girls’ Common Room, a project financed through a special provincial grant from her office. The ceremony was attended by university leadership, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, faculty, students, and officials from the Department of Communication and Works.
During a project briefing, Executive Engineer Hamid Baloch stated that the construction of the common room was completed in one year, which was half the originally scheduled two-year timeline, while maintaining all construction quality standards.
Ms. Majeed also inspected several other development projects funded by the Provincial Government and the Higher Education Commission (HEC). The review covered facilities such as the Daycare Centre, football and cricket grounds, a basketball court, an Innovista Lab, smart classrooms, and a gymnasium.
She directed the relevant officials to expedite the grassing of the football ground and assured the university administration of her assistance in securing the timely release of project funds. The advisor stated that the university’s development, quality education, and women”s empowerment are priorities for the provincial government, affirming a commitment to transparent and timely project completion.
University of Turbat Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Gul Hasan, thanked the advisor for her support for the institution’s progress. It was during their meeting that Prof. Hasan formally raised the necessity of a bus service for students commuting from Turbat city and its outskirts, a proposal Ms. Majeed endorsed as a “vital necessity” and agreed to escalate to the Chief Minister.
