A three-day “Girls’ Week,” organized at Abdullah Government College for Women with the aim of promoting self-confidence and critical thinking among young female students, has concluded, in which students from 16 different institutions participated in inter-collegiate competitions.
According to a statement issued today by Abdullah Government College for Women, the event began with a Qirat and Naat Khwani competition held under the chairmanship of the college principal, Professor Shams Mulkani. The inaugural program was supervised by Professor Hasna Bano. The chief guests of the opening ceremony included Chairman North Nazimabad Town Atif Ali Khan, former Principal Razia, Syed Kashif Shah, and educationist Razia Subhan Qureshi. The judging duties were performed by Qari Asad-ul-Haq, Hafiz Muhammad Kamran Shaikh Soharwardi, Ms. Sahar Azam, and Syeda Noreen Faiza.
On the second day, an inter-collegiate Urdu debate was held. The speakers at the event, including Professor Mulkani, emphasized that such competitions are the best means of building self-confidence in female students and are extremely important for their educational and mental development. Professor Mulkani said that debates promote critical thinking and foster tolerance, discipline, and respect for others’ opinions.
In the debate competition, Saib Rush won the first position, Ali Hassan the second, and Haya Fatima the third. Abdul Bari was awarded a special prize. The chief guest of the debate, Aniq Ahmed, encouraged the participating students and highlighted the importance of such forums.
On the third day of the festival, a Geet and Ghazal singing competition was held, which was also chaired by the principal, while Dr. Nuzhat Abbasi served as the program supervisor.
At the closing ceremony, Professor Shams Mulkani distributed prizes among the position-holding students. The principal formally thanked the various guests and judges and presented them with flowers, Ajraks, and shields as gifts.
