Women and children have started protesting after the local administration, a few days after the murder of the owner of a private housing society, launched a major operation against encroachments around the housing society using heavy machinery.
The district administration, accompanied by a heavy contingent of police, started the operation on Sunday to remove alleged illegal constructions around the scheme. The demolition operation is being supervised by Assistant Commissioner Ghulam Hussain Kanyo and the area’s DSP. During the operation, women from the Lashari community demonstrated against the move.
Assistant Commissioner Kanyo stated that the administration is acting on the orders of the High Court. He explained that all legal matters related to the housing scheme’s land and encroachments were resolved two months ago, after which 80 percent of the boundary wall was constructed. He added that following the “unfortunate” murder of the scheme’s owner by miscreants, the district administration has now stepped in to complete the task of removing the encroachments.
In this regard, the Jutt Baradri Alliance Sindh has publicly condemned the murder of Chaudhry Shahzad Ahmed. During a press conference, the organization’s president, Razzaq Bajwa, condemned the “brutal murder” and demanded the immediate arrest of all individuals named in the case from the higher authorities.
It is noteworthy that the police have made progress in the investigation of Advocate Chaudhry Shahzad’s murder. Two suspects have already been taken into custody.
