Encroachments in Karachi South hinder movement, Union Council Chairman writes to Karachi Commissioner

A formal complaint has been lodged with the Commissioner detailing multiple incidents of harassment and abuse of women and children allegedly linked to the proliferation of illegal encroachments in Union Committee No. 08, Saddar South.

The official complaint was submitted by UC-08 Chairman Muhammad Salman Khan at the Commissioner’s Office on Tuesday, identifying the unauthorized structures as stalls and pushcarts allegedly set up by Afghan nationals and others in and around the Gari Khata area.

According to the application, these encroachments are causing severe hardship for local residents and obstructing public spaces in Gari Khata, M.A. Jinnah Road, Katchery Road, and Pakistan Chowk. The letter further states that the illegal stalls are disrupting traffic, creating serious sanitation issues, and contributing to a deteriorating law and order situation.

In his correspondence, Salman Khan has urged the Karachi Commissioner to take immediate notice of the matter. He has demanded that immediate directives be issued to the relevant departments for the complete removal of the illegal structures and for strict action to be taken against the elements involved.

The Chairman stressed that such measures are essential to restore peace, security, and the rule of law for the community. Copies of the formal complaint were also forwarded to the Deputy Commissioner South, the Assistant Commissioner Arambagh, and the Station House Officer of Arambagh Police Station.
