Extreme Heat Warning for Balochistan: Public Advised to Take Precautions

The Meteorological Department’s Quetta Regional Centre issued a stern weather warning today, indicating the likelihood of very hot conditions across most plain areas of Balochistan. Citizens are urged to implement precautionary measures during outdoor activities, particularly between 10:00 AM and 03:00 PM, to mitigate risks associated with the intense heat.

A synoptic overview released by the Meteorological Department”s Quetta Regional Centre on Wednesday detailed the prevailing atmospheric conditions. Continental air masses are currently affecting the majority of Balochistan, while a shallow westerly trough is influencing the province”s northern regions.

For today, the department anticipated primarily dry weather across most districts of the province. Warmer temperatures are specifically expected in the plain areas. Additionally, intermittently strong, gusty, and dust-raising winds are predicted for most parts of the province over the next 24 hours.

Looking ahead, the weather outlook for the next 48 hours suggests a continuation of mainly dry conditions in the majority of the province”s districts. Plain areas, however, are set to experience even more intense heat. Strong winds may persist across most parts of the province throughout this period.

Rainfall activity remained nil over the past 24 hours. The minimum temperatures recorded during this period across various locations included Kalat at 11.0°C, Samungli at 13.5°C, Quetta at 14.0°C, RMC at 15.7°C, Sariab at 16.0°C, Zhob at 17.0°C, Khuzdar at 20.5°C, Barkhan at 21.8°C, Dalbandin at 22.0°C, Panjgur at 22.5°C, Gwadar, Lasbella, and Pasni all at 24.5°C. Ormara recorded 25.0°C, while Jiwani, Uthal, Usta Muhammad, and Nokkundi registered 25.5°C. Sibbi saw 27.0°C, and Turbat experienced the highest minimum at 29.5°C.
