Fear of strong winds and hailstorms in Sindh, heavy rain alert issued today

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) Sindh has issued a stern warning that strong winds and hailstorms during the upcoming rains could damage weak structures and solar panels, spokesperson Salman Shah announced on Tuesday.

Citing the forecast of the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Shah stated on Tuesday that rain and thunderstorms are expected across the province on March 25 and 26, while another spell of rains is expected on March 28 and 29.

The alert stated that the districts of Karachi, Thatta, Badin, Hyderabad, Sukkur, Dadu, Kashmore, Jacobabad, and Larkana may be affected by the adverse weather conditions.

Shah said that a significant drop in temperature is also predicted. Therefore, citizens have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel, while tourists and other travelers have been urged to take precautionary measures.

He added that farmers should take advance measures to protect their crops from potential damage due to the bad weather.

In response to the forecast, PDMA Sindh has directed its staff to remain on high alert with all necessary machinery.

Shah confirmed that all deputy commissioners and relevant government departments have been directed to remain extremely vigilant to deal with any emergency situation.

These preparations are being made on the instructions of the Advisor for Rehabilitation, Gianchand Essarani, to ensure comprehensive arrangements are in place to handle any emergency.
