QUETTA:First flight lands on newly renovated runway at Quetta International Airport on Wednesday.

According to a statement issued from Headquarters Civil Aviation Authority, at 06:25am PK 325 from Islamabad landed in Quetta on an upgraded main runway (13L/31R) of Quetta International Airport. Airport Manager and Project Director were present along with their teams to witness the momentous event. Later, describing their landing to the Airport Manager during their meeting the pilots termed it smooth and beautiful; they also appreciated the visual aid Precision Approach Path Indicators (PAPPI) lights and congratulated the PCAA teams for successfully completing the project.

The main runway caters for aircrafts upto ICAO code 4E and is equipped with the latest technology Airfield Lighting System (ALS) for (Day and Night) operations. Quetta International Airport is now officially certified for all weather operations of wide body Aircrafts like Boeing 777 and equivalent. The project was completed with an estimated construction cost of Rs.5 Billion.
