First Lady of Pakistan, Bibi Aseefa Bhutto Zardari, on the International Day of Women in Diplomacy, paid tribute to women who have dedicated their lives to advancing understanding, dialogue, and cooperation among nations, saying their contributions have strengthened international partnerships and helped build a more peaceful and connected world.
In her message marking the occasion today, the First Lady said Pakistan takes pride in the distinguished women who have represented the country with dignity and excellence on the global stage. She noted that from Begum Ra’ana Liaquat Ali Khan and Begum Shaista Ikramullah, who helped shape Pakistan’s diplomatic presence during its formative years, to Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, whose leadership earned Pakistan global recognition, generations of Pakistani women have made enduring contributions to public service and international affairs.
Aseefa said that Pakistani women continue to serve with distinction as ambassadors, diplomats, and representatives in international organizations and multilateral forums. Through their professionalism, sound judgment, and dedication, they advance Pakistan’s interests while contributing to international peace and cooperation.
She observed that Pakistani women diplomats, alongside their colleagues, continue to play a meaningful role in supporting Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace, stability, and constructive engagement within the international community.
The First Lady extended her appreciation to all Pakistani women diplomats, past and present, whose service has brought honor to the nation. She said their achievements remain a source of pride for Pakistan and continue to inspire young women across the country to pursue careers in public service, diplomacy, and international affairs.
