Five die as floodwater sweeps away pick-up van in Sibbi

Sibbi: Five people including women and children died as flashflood triggered by heavy rains in Balochistan swept away a pick-up van in Sibbi on Sunday.

Three people were rescued in injured condition but the authorities feared the death toll might rise as there were many passengers in the vehicle which was swept away by rising water in Katmandahi Beiji stream. Only of the victims was so far identified as Ghulam Bakhsh Marri. Pick-up driver Farooq was among the injured.

Meanwhile, cracks developed in a school building in Dera Bugti after it was hit by floodwater. The primary school building located in Shahzain Kalli Ghulam Rasoom may collapse any time. The heavy rains also cracked a road in Lanja Ganja area of Sui. Daily life was disrupted after flashfloods triggered by heavy rains hit parts of Balochistan for the second consecutive day.
