Karachi: The shortage of wheat is raising its ugly head in flood-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province as the price of the 20kg flour sack has reached Rs2,250 in Mardan district, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.

The people of Mardan are worried, for they are already faced with the destruction caused by floods in neighboring areas, and now the shortage of flour can affect their lives drastically.

In Mardan city, the price of the 20kg flour sack has exceeded Rs 2,000 while the dealers have indicated that it will go further high.

It has only added to the worries of the inflation and calamity-hit people.

“What should we spend our money on? On paying electricity bills or buying flour for our children?” they complained.

They have demanded that the provincial government take timely measures to avert wheat shortage and maintain flour price.
