Former International Umpire Rab Nawaz Dies at 85 After Protracted Illness

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the demise of former international umpire and cricket organiser Rab Nawaz Snr, who passed away at the age of 85 following a prolonged illness.

Nawaz, who was a right-hand batter and a right-arm off-spin bowler, had a brief playing career that included two first-class matches before transitioning into officiating.

His international umpiring tenure saw him stand in two One-Day Internationals between 1982 and 1984.

His debut as an umpire was in a fixture between Pakistan and Sri Lanka at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on 29 March 1982. He officiated his final international match two years later, a contest involving Pakistan and New Zealand at the Sialkot Cricket Stadium on 2 December 1984.

In a formal announcement, the PCB extended its deepest sympathies to the family of the departed official, mourning the irreparable loss to the cricket community.
