FPCCI expresses concern over the wave of violence

Karachi, July 16, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) on Monday strongly condemned the terrorist attacks across the country which claimed hundreds of innocent lives and injured many. The incidents amid election campaign have terrorised masses, terrified the business community and proved that the country still remains vulnerable to terrorists pushing a violent ideology that is destabilising Pakistan, it said. The brutal attacks has left a trail of destruction creating fear among masses and raising questions about elections, said Ghazanfar Bilour, President FPCCI.

He said that terrorists may have planned carnage at the polling day to prove their lethality to hit foundations of a state. Ghazanfar Bilour said that extra vigilance and improved security protocols are required to avoid such gory incidents in future. It is a fight against an invisible and inhuman enemy that has the advantage of unpredictability enabling them to strike at will. The phenomenon needs to be understood in the right perspective to defeat them, he demanded.

Security agencies are fighting a war against terrorists but there is a need to counter them on the ideological front, he said, adding that a counter-narrative against terrorists should be developed which must be included in the school syllabus to save the youth from the lure of terrorist narratives. The business leader said that efforts must be made to check the projection of terrorists through media, effective measures should be to check the funding provided to terrorist organisations, and clerics should be asked to deal with sectarianism.

Ghazanfar Bilour said that some elements are involved in destabilising Pakistan and that recent terrorist attacks cannot make masses forget sacrifices of the Army in defeating terrorism and hoped that it will soon find and eliminate terrorists responsible for the recent bloodshed. The whole nation is pinning high hopes on Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa who has led the army from the front and demonstrated best of his abilities to defend the country.
