Srinagar, February 07, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the report submitted by the Senior Superintendent of police Srinagar before the Human Rights Commission, today, revealed that the Gaw Kadal massacre case was closed after failure of the ‘efforts’ to trace the culprits. The SSP Srinagar in his report also stated that the all the records regarding the case kept at Kralkhud police station were “washed away during the floods in 2014.”
The SSP Srinagar was directed by the Human Rights Commission to submit the status report as to why the police had delayed the investigation into the January 21, 1990 Gaw Kadal massacre. More than 50 innocent people were killed in the massacre carried out by Indian forces on this day in 1990.
The petition regarding the case was filed by the Chairman of International Forum for Justice and Human Rights, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in July 2012. The SSP in his report said that “strenuous efforts were made to trace the culprits but no clue was found. Finally, the investigation into the case was closed as untraced.”
