Gaw Kadal massacre painful reminder of Indian occupation: Mirwaiz

Srinagar, January 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, paying tributes to the martyrs of Gaw Kadal massacre, has said that the incident was another painful reminder of the huge human cost the Kashmiris pay living under India’s forcible occupation.

Umar Farooq in a tweet also condemned the arrest of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front Chairman, Muhammad Yasin Malik, and other Hurriyat leaders to prevent them from leading demonstrations on the 29th anniversary of Gaw Kadal massacre, today.

“Today is the 29th anniversary of the brutal Gaw Kadal massacre another painful reminder of the huge human cost we pay living under forcible control. Civilians protesting molestation of women by Indian forces during a nocturnal raid had assembled at Gaw Kadal Bridge. They were pumped bullets with impunity, killing over 50 people on spot and injuring more than 250,” he said. He also strongly denounced the arrest of Muhammad Yasin Malik, Hilal Ahmed War and other Hurriyat leaders and activists.
