Germany Pledges to Increase Pakistani Student Numbers to 10,000

Germany on Friday announced plans to increase its intake of Pakistani students to 10,000, a significant rise from the current 6,000, underscoring a commitment to enhancing academic and professional exchange between the two countries.

The pledge was made by German Ambassador Anka Lepel during a high-level meeting with Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP), held at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Discussions between the two officials centred on potential areas for bilateral cooperation, focusing on education, vocational training, and skills advancement for Pakistan”s younger generation.

Mr Khan provided a detailed briefing on the PMYP, explaining the advisory function of the National Youth Council in developing youth-centred policies. He also outlined the objectives of the Green Youth Movement, an initiative designed to promote environmental awareness.

Ambassador Lepel conveyed Germany’s keen interest in Pakistan’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. She also recognised the chairman’s efforts in promoting youth empowerment and skill development.

Both parties concluded by agreeing to continue fostering mutual cooperation in youth education and international exposure, reinforcing a shared commitment to enhancing opportunities for the next generation.
