Governor seeks halt to tribal killings under proactive policing

Karachi:Sindh Governor Imran Ismail on Monday expressed his great concern over a report by Sindh Human Rights Defenders Network regarding the tribal clashes in the rural areas of Sindh province, particularly recent killing of nine people near Kashmore.

According to the report, a dispute between two tribes in Kashmir recently resulted in the loss of nine human lives. The report states that Sindh has become a battlefield where rural terrorism swallows precious lives every day. In the tribal rivalry between Chachar and Sabzoi tribesmen, several people have been killed so far and this bloody dispute does not appear to end.

The report further stated that the unfortunate aspect of all this tragic situation is that the police strategy to counter such bloody feuds is reactive but not show any pre-action ahead of the incidents. This time, three APCs were taken to the area to handle the situation as there were already conflicts in the area but police check posts were not established there.

The report also calls for the Government of Sindh to play its role in preventing the clashes that result in the loss of human lives every day. The governor called upon the police in the province to ensure their responsibilities in protecting the lives and property of the people under proactive policing. He also sought a detailed report from IG Sindh.
