Governor Sindh Emphasises Urgent Industrial Expansion for Economic Recovery

Governor Sindh Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi today underscored the critical importance of industrial growth, increased exports, and investment promotion as vital for the province”s economic recovery and sustainable development. He stressed that a stable industrial sector is paramount for national financial health and creating new employment opportunities.

These remarks were made during a meeting at Governor House with Akram Rajput, President of the Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI). The discussions encompassed the current industrial and commercial landscape of the province, potential investment avenues, and other shared interests.

Mr. Hashmi reiterated the necessity of an enhanced export drive, fostering greater industrialisation, and cultivating a more conducive business climate. He called for a coordinated and effective strategy to address unemployment through robust economic activity.

Both the Governor and the KATI President concurred that strong, collaborative efforts between governmental bodies and the private sector are indispensable for achieving long-term economic stability and progress.

Mr. Rajput provided the Governor with an overview of industrial operations within KATI, highlighting its significant role as one of the nation”s premier industrial zones. He noted its substantial presence of diverse sectors, including garment, pharmaceutical, oil refinery, electronics, and motorcycle manufacturing firms.

He further informed that KATI contributes approximately $3.5 billion annually to national exports, making it a pivotal player in the country”s economy. Mr. Rajput extended an invitation to Governor Hashmi to visit KATI, which the Governor graciously accepted.
