Sindh Governor Syed Muhammad Nehal Hashmi has said that mutual trust and cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies are the need of the hour.
He said that effective community policing measures play a vital role in crime prevention, public safety and the establishment of a peaceful society, while collaboration among the public, police and social institutions is essential for maintaining law and order, according to a statement today.
He expressed these views during a meeting at the Governor House with a delegation of Community Policing Karachi led by Murad Ali Sohni. The delegation included Atiq Iqbal, Muhammad Irfan Abu Bakar, Hafiz Muhammad Tabba, Faisal Rashid, Jamal Sethi, Aamir Chora, Abbas Tayyab, Muhammad Masood, Raja Safeer and Danish Tala.
The delegation extended greetings to the Governor Sindh on the performance of Hajj and presented him with an Ajrak and a commemorative souvenir. The meeting featured detailed discussions on law and order in Karachi, community policing, strengthening cooperation between citizens and law enforcement agencies, and the implementation of modern security measures.
On the occasion, Murad Ali Sohni briefed the Governor Sindh on the activities of Community Policing Karachi and informed him that 25,000 CCTV cameras have been installed across the city through a self-help initiative. He further stated that monitoring centres have been established at 18 key locations, including police stations, the City Court and other sensitive sites. He added that the establishment of a technologically advanced Command and Control Centre has significantly enhanced urban security and surveillance systems.
The delegation also invited the Governor Sindh to visit the Command and Control Centre. Appreciating the efforts of Community Policing Karachi in promoting peace in the city, the Governor Sindh assured his full support for such initiatives.
