The United States and Iran are set to hold direct peace talks in Islamabad, with both countries sending senior officials for the historic talks, according to an announcement made by the White House today.
President Donald Trump is sending a high-powered American contingent spearheaded by Vice President JD Vance. The mission was confirmed by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt during a press conference.
The US negotiation team will also include Steve Witkoff, an adviser to the President, and Jared Kushner, Mr Trump”s son-in-law, Ms Leavitt added.
In parallel, Iran’s delegation is anticipated to be headed by Parliament Speaker Baqer Qalibaf. He will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, as reported by Radio Pakistan.
