The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) today committed to holding long-overdue elections and will formally announce the schedule for the Chairman’s election on November 7th, a development confirmed during a crucial meeting of the Standing Committee on Inter Provincial Coordination (IPC) on Wednesday.
The decision emerged after the convener of a special sub-committee presented a report to the main parliamentary body, chaired by Mr. Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, MNA. The report detailed that the PHF has agreed to conduct a comprehensive scrutiny of its affiliated clubs, a foundational step before proceeding with the electoral process for its leadership.
Held at the Ministry of Inter Provincial Coordination, the 10th meeting of the standing committee addressed the administrative matters concerning the national sport”s governing body. The panel also provided several suggestions aimed at improving the functions of both the Pakistan Hockey Federation and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).
During the session, committee members raised questions which were addressed by senior officials from the ministry and its attached departments.
The proceedings were attended by several Members of the National Assembly, including Mr. Anjum Aqeel Khan, Mr. Waseem Qadir, Mr. Haji Rasool Bax Chandio, Ms. Syeda Shehla Raza, Dr. Mahreen Razzaq Bhutto, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal Khan, Mr. Khawaja Izhar Ul Hassan, and Mr. Syed Samiullah. Senior officers from the IPC ministry were also present.
