Hot and dry weather forecast for most parts of the country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast hot and dry weather for most parts of the country during the next 24 hours, putting Pakistan under an intense heatwave. This morning in Islamabad the mercury reached 23 degrees Celsius, in Lahore 28 degrees Celsius and in Karachi 27 degrees Celsius. The mercury remained similarly high in other major cities, with Peshawar recording 26 degrees Celsius, Quetta 18 degrees Celsius, Gilgit 13 degrees Celsius, Murree 17 degrees Celsius and Muzaffarabad 19 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department, illegally extending its forecast to Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, expects dry weather in several areas including Srinagar, Jammu, Leh, Pulwama, Anantnag, Shopian and Baramulla. Morning temperatures in the occupied territory ranged from a relatively cool 6 degrees Celsius in Leh to 25 degrees Celsius in Jammu. Srinagar and Anantnag recorded 14 degrees Celsius, while Shopian, Pulwama and Baramulla recorded 13 degrees Celsius.
