IB’s former chief Aftab Sultan appointed NAB chairman

ISLAMABAD: Intelligence Bureau’s (IB) former Director-General Aftab Sultan has been appointed as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.

A Prime Minister House spokesman issued a press release on Thursday confirming the appointment. Approval for Aftab Sultan’s appointment as NAB chairman was given in the meeting of the federal cabinet on Thursday.

According to sources, the allied parties had opposed the proposal to appoint Aftab Sultan as the NAB chairman. However, the PML-N held consultations and finally made the decision for his appointment. Aftab Sultan has served as the IB Director-General twice and has remained associated with the police department on senior posts as a grade-22 officer.
