Pakistan Sunni Tehreek’s Central Secretary General Sahibzada Allama Bilal Saleem Qadri Shami has warned that failure to address the growing challenges facing the city’s property sector could force many local industries to shut down.
In a statement on Saturday, he highlighted that the unresolved issues have severely destabilized the metropolitan city’s economic system.
Qadri stressed that despite being the country’s economic backbone, Karachi is suffering from severe neglect. He pointed to a growing list of public grievances, including inflation, unemployment, lawlessness, severe traffic jams, and dilapidated infrastructure, which he claimed are being ignored by the authorities.
The political leader expressed that the business community is in a state of severe distress, and the difficulties faced by property dealers threaten a domino effect on the wider economy.
He emphasized that the potential closure of industries is not only a threat to the business community but also to the livelihoods of millions of laborers, whose families would face grave financial consequences.
According to Qadri, the country’s highest revenue-generating city is being deliberately entangled in difficulties. He attributed the city’s decline to incompetence, corruption, and political power struggles, and said that development projects often exist only on paper and the public receives no tangible relief.
Qadri urged the government to engage constructively with individuals associated with the property sector instead of isolating them. He stressed the importance of listening to and addressing their legitimate concerns, calling the sector a crucial driver of industry, employment, and investment.
He added that a decline in investor confidence in this vital sector could deter both local and foreign investment in the city.
Concluding his statement, the Central Secretary General issued a stark warning that if Karachi’s problems are not resolved immediately, the situation will worsen, placing the full responsibility on the rulers and relevant institutions. He affirmed that the Pakistan Sunni Tehreek stands in solidarity with the city’s residents, traders, and laborers, and vowed to continue the constitutional and democratic struggle for their rights.
