Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, spearheaded a series of high-stakes meetings with senior police officials on Wednesday, addressing pressing security concerns in the capital. The discussions, attended by Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), Assistant Inspectors General (AIGs), Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs), and Special Branch officers, focused on crime prevention, intelligence enhancement, and traffic management.
Rizvi conducted a rigorous evaluation of the divisional commanders’ performance, scrutinizing the overall law and order situation in Islamabad. He underscored the necessity of harnessing modern technology for crime deterrence and bolstering surveillance capabilities citywide.
The Islamabad Police Spokesperson revealed that Special Branch officers received specific instructions to advance the intelligence-gathering framework. The IGP emphasized the critical importance of seamless information exchange and operations grounded in intelligence, advocating for a synthesis of technology and intelligence to fortify urban security.
Furthermore, Rizvi directed all officers to improve collaboration with other law enforcement bodies, aiming to refine patrolling strategies and enhance the efficacy of checking systems.
On the subject of traffic management, the IGP mandated authorities to guarantee unimpeded traffic flow, particularly during peak office hours. He called for stringent punitive measures against those flouting traffic laws, stressing the need for discipline on the roads.
In a bid to boost the skill set of police personnel, Rizvi announced the initiation of capacity-building courses at the Police Training College. He reaffirmed the Islamabad Police’s commitment to safeguarding citizens’ lives and property, declaring that the provision of superior services to residents of the federal capital remains their paramount duty.
