Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, today directed senior officers to intensify special and effective operations against criminals, drug dealers, and active terrorist groups across the federal capital.
In a series of high-level meetings, the IGP conducted a detailed assessment of counter-terrorism measures and the overall law and order situation with the SSP Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), AIG Special Branch, and AIG Operations. He issued necessary instructions to further improve ongoing search operations and actions being taken against terrorist and criminal elements to enhance citizen security.
The police chief, accompanied by DIG Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq and other senior officers, also evaluated the investigation of important cases, the examination of evidence, and progress made in sensitive inquiries. He issued clear directives that all cases must be taken to their logical conclusion in a timely and professional manner to ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property and the supremacy of the law.
A central focus of the discussions was the reconstruction and modernisation of police stations to meet contemporary needs. The IGP reviewed ongoing measures to strengthen infrastructure, install modern security equipment, and improve public facilities, instructing officials to transform police stations into modern, public-friendly service centres.
Furthermore, directives were issued to strengthen relations with citizens through the promotion of community policing. The IGP called for the effective and well-organised planning of patrolling systems and the formation of rapid response teams to deal with emergency situations.
