ISLAMABAD: Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb alleged on Wednesday that former prime minister Imran Khan and his ministers openly violated the ECP laws when they were in government besides hurling threats to the ECP.”
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) respects the law, election rules and orders of the ECP while the PML-N ministers resigned in obedience of the ECP orders and respect the law, she said in a statement.
She castigated, “On the other hand, there is Imran Khan and his party which is hurling threats and abuses at the ECP even today as they used to do in the government. Imran Khan is not ready to bow down to the law in his attempt to become ‘Ladla’.”
She added, “Imran Khan considers himself a law. He does not consider himself a subject to the law. He abuses and threatens the ECP on a daily basis and then files petitions.”
She claimed, “Allegations of rigging in elections are a prelude to Imran Khan’s confession of defeat. Imran Khan is a ‘vote thief’, and he should not pretend to be the protector of the vote.”
She castigated further, “By-elections have not yet taken place, and Imran Khan’s mourning has begun. The ECP is the target of Imran Khan’s criticism because of the foreign funding case. Imran Khan and his ministers continued campaigning in the by-elections during their tenure.”
She addressed Imran Khan and said: “Imran Sahib! Respect for the law is this that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif cancelled his visit when he was ordered by the ECP.”
She deplored, “Imran Khan had campaigned in the elections of Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir elections in violation of clear orders of the ECP. Imran Sahib! Your ministers were caught red-handed distributing money in election campaigns, announcing development schemes and rigging elections.”
