Imran will focus on Kashmir to bring peace in region: Yasin

Srinagar, July 27, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), Muhammad Yasin Malik has said that the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan will focus on Kashmir to bring peace to the entire South Asian region.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in an interview in Srinagar recalled his friendship with the former cricket star, Imran Khan, and his concern about unresolved Kashmir dispute. He said in October 2005 when a devastating earthquake hit Kashmir on both sides of the Line of Control, Imran Khan had spent Eid with victims in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

Recalling the days, the JKLF Chairman said that he accompanied the cricketer-turned politician and prominent stars from Pakistan film industry and singers to different refugee camps and spent time with children to express solidarity with them. “There was devastation all around. I along with Imran Khan and Pakistan film stars and singers spent two nights in tents in our effort to bring a smile on faces of people,” he added.

According to Yasin Malik they played a cricket match in one of the quake-affected areas. During the match Imran Khan bowled to Yasin Malik while film stars and singers played as fielders. Yasin Malik said that he had met Imran Khan in Islamabad and had jointly addressed a press conference, talking about their plans to spend Eid and some days with the quake affectees.

“During the day time we would visit the camps but during night hours we would discuss Kashmir dispute and way to resolve it. Imran Khan also focused on providing help to the victims,” he Malik, adding he shared a personal friendship with Imran whom he has met several times. “I expect he will focus on Kashmir to bring peace to the entire South Asian region,” the JKLF Chief said.
