Inspector among three cops killed in IOK

Srinagar, August 23, 2018 (PPI-OT): In occupied Kashmir, an officer among three policemen were killed in a series of attacks in South Kashmir. Unknown men barged into the house of Inspector Mohammad Ashraf at Larve in Pulwama district and opened fire on him. The Police officer was critically injured and succumbed on his way to hospital.

A policeman in Awgam village of Kulgam district of South Kashmir was also killed in an attack. He was critically injured in the firing and later succumbed at a nearby hospital. The cop has identified as Fayaz Ahmad Shah of Zazripora village. Shah, who was earlier working as a Special Police Officer (SPO) was recently promoted as constable.

Another policeman, identified as Mohammad Yaqoob was fired upon from the point-blank range outside his home at Louswani village in Pulwama. He was critically injured and was immediately taken to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Newa wherefrom he was referred to Srinagar hospital for advanced treatment. However, he succumbed to injuries on way to Srinagar hospital.

A police officer, Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police Dilbar Ahmad escaped bid on his life when unknown armed men barged into his house in Kellar area of Shopian and opened fire on him. He escaped unhurt as he jumped out of window. Some masked men also barged into the house of SHO Tral, Mohammad Yusuf in Bijbehara area of Islamabad district but he was not at home and had left two hours before the men reached his house. Political analysts see the series of attacks on police officers as reaction to threatening statements of DG Police, Shesh Paul Vaid.
