Investigation ordered into alleged scandal of illegal construction on government land in Mirpurkhas

An official investigation has been launched into the alleged scandal of illegal construction on government land in Mirpurkhas, .

The Deputy Commissioner initiated the investigation on Tuesday following a formal complaint and media coverage.

Acting on an application submitted by petitioner Muhammad Nasir son of Munshi Khan, the city administration has sought a formal inquiry report from the Assistant Commissioner.

The complaint alleges that revenue officers and officials of Taluka Hussain Bux Mari and Taluka Mirpurkhas facilitated encroachment by illegally transferring the title of government-owned land to private individuals through alteration of official records.

The Assistant Commissioner has been directed to conduct a thorough review of the matter within a strict deadline of seven days. The directive includes meeting the complainant in person, recording his statement, verifying all evidence presented, and scrutinizing the land’s title, record of rights, and status for any fraudulent entries.

According to sources, the construction of the mall was also carried out illegally without an approved completion plan. This was allegedly done in connivance with officials of the Sindh Building Control Authority and the Sub-Registrar, who conducted registrations without the necessary approvals, resulting in a significant loss of government revenue in terms of completion fees.
