Iranian Parliament Speaker Dr. Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf on Friday expressed deep appreciation for Pakistan’s support during a recent 12-day conflict with Israel, conveying the sentiment during a meeting with Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Leading a delegation, Dr. Ghalibaf stated that the backing shown by Pakistan during the war is “deeply appreciated and cherished by the people of Iran.”
Prime Minister Sharif, during the meeting, reiterated the steadfast commitment of both nations to resolving global disputes through peaceful dialogue and diplomacy.
The premier affirmed that Pakistan and Iran condemn state-sponsored terrorism and have historically supported one another against unilateral aggression. He noted that both countries have been victims of terrorism and therefore share a resolve for regional peace and cooperation.
Both leaders also underscored their mutual determination to work in cohesion for the unity of the Muslim Ummah.
Economic collaboration was a key topic, with Prime Minister Sharif expressing Pakistan”s eagerness to foster cooperation in mutual interests, including bilateral trade. The Iranian speaker reciprocated this commitment, stating Iran”s intent to further enhance economic and trade relations.
Dr. Ghalibaf extended special gratitude to his Pakistani counterpart, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, for the positive and robust cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries.
The prime minister conveyed his respects to Iran”s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and President Masoud Pazeshkian. In turn, Dr. Ghalibaf delivered a message of warmth from the Iranian president for Prime Minister Sharif and the people of Pakistan.
The meeting was also attended by Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Foreign Affairs, Syed Tariq Fatemi.
