IT Minister meets tech companies on sidelines of GITEX Global 2022 in Dubai

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication Syed Amin Ul Haque met with the different delegations of tech companies including Huawei, and successful startups on the sidelines of GITEX Global 2022 in Dubai.

Matters related to IT and telecommunication were discussed during the meetings. Senior officers of the Ministry of IT were also present in the meetings, says a statement issued here on Wednesday. Meanwhile, on the sidelines, Ignite and Huawei Pakistan signed an MoU with a view to develop and expand a framework of cooperation between both organizations to strengthen relationships through talent development activities and Startup programs.

The Minister was chief guest at the MoU signing ceremony. The Minister for IT also visited Ignite Pavilion and appreciated startups for participating in GITEX 2022. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that investment in Pakistani startups saw 30 percent increase during the last four years.

Ventures’ investment in Pakistani startups is the proof of trust on Pakistani policies, he added. In another major development Orbited, a Ignite funded startup pitched their idea and moved to the next round, where the startup has received an invite to meet 1-1 with Oman Technology Fund (OTF) investment committee for the final approval.

In yesterday’s OTF pitches, about 30 startups participated and pitched their ideas to the prestigious panel of jurors and investors. It is pertinent to mention here that this year Ignite is displaying ten startups, in an exclusive pavilion at GITEX, including MyTM (Fintech), MapAlytics (AR/VR), XpertFlow (AI), Empowering People and Organizations (e-services), Asani.IO (CleanTech), InstaCare (HealthTech), Bryat (Ecommerce), Edversity (EdTech), WonderTree (AR/VR), Orbit (EdTech).
