Jamaat-e-Islami shura rejects resignation of its chief

LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Pakistan Central Majlis-e-Shura on Saturday rejected the resignation of Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Sirajul Haq.

According to spokesman Qaiser Sharif, the party's Central Majlis-e-Shura meeting was held under the chairmanship of JI Deputy Chief Liaquat Baloch. Members from across the country participated in the meeting.

According to the spokesman, the Shura unanimously rejected the resignation of the Jamaat-e-Islami chief.

Qaiser Sharif further said that the Jamaat Chief would continue his duties according to the constitution. The failure of Jamaat in the elections was not due to the Jamaat head. The spokesperson also rejected the results of the elections and demanded the Chief Election Commission's resignation immediately.
