Karachi East Police capture 55 illegal immigrants

KARACHI: District East Police in Karachi has initiated a crackdown on illegal immigrants, resulting in the apprehension of 55 individuals, including three involved in criminal activities, police said Saturday.

The detained individuals, excluding those with criminal records, will be shifted to designated holding centres and then deported to their native country.

On Thursday, the first group of illegal immigrants departed from the Haji Camp holding point in Karachi, heading for Chaman. This convoy consisted of four buses carrying 120 foreign nationals who had been residing in the city without proper authorization.

The convoy's destination was the Chaman border crossing with Afghanistan, and it included Afghan women, children, and elderly citizens.

There has been a consistent outflow of illegal Afghan immigrants from the country, with sources at the Afghan Commissionerate in Khyber district reporting that 9,000 Afghans left within the last 24 hours.

Since October 1st, a total of 156,000 Afghan nationals have voluntarily returned to their home country, according to the same sources. This deportation operation is being conducted nationwide following the expiration of the deadline set by the caretaker government on October 31.

Operation against illegal immigrants in Pakistan continues to identify, apprehend, and deport individuals who are living in the country without proper legal documentation or authorization. The operation is being carried out to enforce immigration laws, maintain national security, and address concerns related to illegal immigration.
