Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Sindh Vice President Rizwan Niazi today voiced profound apprehension regarding a sharp increase in street crime and armed holdups across the city, asserting that the provincial capital has effectively been rendered a ‘katcha’ (lawless riverine) area due to what he terms as inadequate governance by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).
He highlighted three significant robbery occurrences within a single week at prominent locations as particularly alarming. Criminal syndicates reportedly established roadblocks and plundered residents with impunity at sites including Korangi Bridge, Nipa Bridge, and Jail Road Bridge, which Niazi described as a clear dereliction of duty by law enforcement.
These pervasive security breaches, according to the PTI leader, unequivocally demonstrate that unlawful elements are operating without hindrance, leaving the populace increasingly exposed and apprehensive about their personal safety and assets. He found the prevalence of daylight thefts and direct challenges to state authority deeply unsettling.
Niazi implored the provincial administration to guarantee the safeguarding of citizens’ lives and possessions, demanding the immediate apprehension and prosecution of individuals implicated in these recent episodes of brigandage. Furthermore, he urged urgent measures to re-establish stability and public order within the bustling urban centre.
